From the outset Cafe Smart were open to our interior design ideas to help achieve the best space for them. Focused on a design that offered longevity and flexibility, the client wanted a scheme that adapted alongside the business. Using a modern, contemporary palette of burnt pinks, off-whites and olive greens, to brighten and highlight the existing structure with sophisticated tones. Use of texture and materiality with the use of brick slips cladding on feature walls adding depth and pattern as well as the use of natural timbers to inject warmth. Lighting was a crucial element during the design process, with vast floor to ceiling windows on the ground floor and mezzanine, the space was flooded with natural light. In order to enhance the customers, experience we wanted to offer intimate lighting with the use of dropped pendants and wall lights that created these private zones within the spacious layouts.

Long standing member of the Belmont Road, Cafe Smart, is well established family business within the heart of the Ballyhackamore area. As they were approaching their ten-year anniversary since they opened, the client wanted to mark this moment with a refit and redesign to the entire space. Focused on enhancing their extensive offering and coffee expertise, they wanted to create a space for which their existing customers would feel comfortable whilst integrating contemporary design to attract new demographic
