TERRY were appointed to create a concept that would stand out in Ballymena’s coffee scene. The interior needed to be leisurely and cool yet appealing to all ages of the community. The existing buildings containing a former hairdressers and sweetshop were merged into one, walls were knocked through with openings created connecting the two spaces and where possible these were stripped back to reveal the original brickwork. Upon entry, the double height space is bright and inviting clad in cement board, featuring an oak seating structure and Philips factory lights. An industrial mixture of reclaimed timber, steel, engineered oak and concrete characterise the ground floor accented with hues of retro blue, original style tiles, angle poise lights and herringbone floor. The first floor takes on a moodier atmosphere with low-level lighting, rich timber finishes, intimate booth seating and ox blood, chesterfield sofas.
