Bar Design and Build
Jeremiah Grant, Ireland
This Bar design and build in Portlaoise reflects elements of the story behind the infamous highwayman that the establishment is named after. We didn’t want it to be a themed bar in any sense, but with such an interesting back story we wanted to reflect this in finishes and materials selected. Our first goal was to bring some age back into the interior of the building with the addition of brick slips and speciality wall finishing, creating a textured backdrop . Wall units made from distressed timber, metal mesh backs and glazed doors with the addition of vintage locks, create the perfect display for a collection of unique antiques that reflect Jeremiah’s colourful history. Salvaged timber and steel were used throughout the bar, tables and room dividers. In order to break up the rustic materials, modern touches such as opal perspex, linear tiles and neon were used to bring a contemporary feel to the space. Overall Jeremiah’s has the atmosphere of a rich traditional bar design but with a modern twist.
